ABOUT

HOW DO I SURVIVE GOING OUTSIDE ON A ORDINARY DAY? WHAT DO I TAKE ALONG ON MY URBAN EXPLORATIONS?
1. Ontwerpduo bag made from a recycled blanket.
2. I never drink take-aways from plastic cups: I always carry my BigBubble inspired KeepCup in my bag!
3. A vintage cigarette holder reused as a business card holder.
4. A zillion fineliners.
5. A small bag to put seeds in I find when I am outside, which I then plant on my balcony.
6. A John's mobile, the world's simplest phone: call, be called and that's it.
7. Sartoriale perfume by Penthaligon's, which is inspired by the small at Savile Row's tailors.
8. Rose balm, which I use for everything. Even on eyelids.
9. I can barely find the right currency in my wallet. But I secretly love handing out a pound and saying 'oh, oeps! I was in London a few days ago'...
10. You just never know when you might need some pretty string.
11. I rarely brush my hair when I am out, but having my Mason Pearson's brush in my bag gives me the feeling I am going on holidays.
12. I love paper tape! I stick it on EVERYTHING.
13. Somewhere at the bottom of my bag... you might find rare treasures like a candle, paperclips and other undefined objects.
14. A frrry wallet thing which I use for paper assorti. 15. Book shops with great looking book covers beware: if it fits in my bag, I will buy it and turn it into a notebook.
16. I love Frankie magazine. I just dream of them loving me back...
17. Inspiration gallore from édition PAUMES. Triple sigh. 18. Italian never leave the house without.
19. My 'This is not a paper bag' which I do not only use for groceries but as a picnic blanket, pillow, small throw and umbrella.
20. The camera I shot this picture with.
Nice to meet you
Aura Scaringi
Born in Sicily, Amsterdam-based, frequent London traveler. I enjoy creating things, growing my own vegetables and paying attention to the smallest details and funny everyday situations.
When I was a little girl, I adored polka dots, small fish swimming in the sea and lemon peel. I also believed in magic. I believed I had the super power to change the world and make everybody happy.
It took me a while to realize I really have those 'magic powers': I love writing, drawing and making things and somehow what I do, makes people smile with their heart. This is the core of Mimimou.
I haven't reached the sun or the moon yet. Not even a cloud. But I am working on it, little by little, one small step a day.
things I believe in
I believe in work/play balance. I believe in upcycling, it sparkles new ideas & is an antidote to consumerism. I believe in DIY , most of my furniture is homemade and every time I want something new, I have a go at making it myself first. I believe coffee makes me a happier person. I don’t have time to watch TV and have not had one since the age of 17. I believe there is something special about notebooks and stationery. I smile when I walk around and will always help an old lady crossing the street, feed hungry birds and write ‘hello!’ on blurred window panes. I believe change can start on any day.
things I am afraid of
Giant poodles and smelly people.
